Otok Jabuka

Application Otok JABUKA is made as a suppor while counting tuna fish in transfer ‘fishing net – transport cage’

Application Otok JABUKA is based on automatic addition of incoming and outgoing fish which are marked by user himself/herself (while doing fish marking procedure in application)

Partners and users:

When large fish transfers occur, it is difficult to unambiguously and accurately count the total number of fish that have moved from the fishing net to the transport cage.

We have a solution for you – application Otok Jabuka!

If you are a crew member of a fishing vessel, an inspector from the Ministry of Agriculture or an ICCAT observer present during the transfer of fish from the net to the transport cage, the number of tuna counted from the video can now be documented for each fish in your assessment.

At any counting moment, it is possible to objectively and demonstrably present and compare the results of your tuna counting.

Application Otok JABUKA works offline.

The application otok JABUKA offers various maneuvering options through video material such as:

• returning to any part of the video;

• skipping parts where there is no fish;

• additional marking and deleting of marked fish.

The results are automatically saved and data can be compared between different users through tables/histograms.

• The otok JABUKA application is similar to software solutions for fish biometrics, but is adapted for faster and more accurate fish counting.

• The time required for video processing depends on the duration of the video, the amount of fish in the transfer, and the user’s experience.

Easy and intuitive use of the application with the possibility of adjusting the display for each user.

Each transfer of tuna caught from the natural habitat to fish farming cages is counted and monitored by the crew members, ICCAT observers, and inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Croatia.

Since it is a protected species and its catch is regulated by quotas, accurate counting of the caught fish represents an important link for all stakeholders in mariculture.

Counting takes place in the open sea in the Jabuka Pit, where there is usually no internet signal.

Application Otok JABUKA is adapted precisely to these working conditions when it is necessary to determine the number of caught fish on the spot.
